FeaturePoints is a very popular app that will keep you entertained while also providing you with the opportunity to earn. You can be rewarded with paid apps and get other rewards just for playing around with entertaining stuff when you have some free time. FeaturePoints is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices.
As soon as you install the FeaturePoints app you’ll see a list of other free apps that you have to download and then use for a minimum of 60 seconds. When you do this your points tally will grow and you can redeem your points to get paid apps free, have cash paid into your PayPal account or obtain gift cards.
I’ve used FeaturePoints for a while and it’s pretty good. You need to be aware that there are certain conditions you have to comply with to keep your account going. For example if you don’t use the FeaturePoints app in 60 days then any points earned to date will expire and your account resets to zero!
When you earn points using FeautrePoints it usually takes a full day to update your account. As I was using this app I kept wondering if there were FeaturePoints alternatives out there. I did some digging and I found a number of alternatives. So I tested them and the best ended up in my FeaturePoints alternative review below. All of these apps are free.
Table of Contents
1. AppTrailers
AppTrailers is a worthy FeaturePoints alternative and it’s basically an advertising program for the mobile world where as a user you watch video ads about apps and earn various rewards. I set up my account quickly and received 50 points just for signing up. I learned that I would earn 5 points for each video I watched and if I referred a friend I would get 100.
There are offers available through AppTrailers and if you make any purchases then you can earn anything from 5 points to 2,500 points. Once I reached the 500 point mark I could cash out using my PayPal account. There were also $5 gift cards available for reaching 5,000 points.
It was easy to use AppTrailers but you need to watch a lot of app videos to earn any decent money from it. With 500 points you can have 50 cents paid to you via PayPal. I did actually get up to $1 fairly quickly and the money did arrive straight away.
2. Receipt Hog
Another good FeaturePoints alternative is Receipt Hog. It’s a very popular app with lots of downloads for both Android and iOS. It’s different in that you use it to upload your receipts to earn coins. When you have enough coins you can convert these to cash or vouchers. You have to be in the US or the UK to use Receipt Hog.
I started by created a free account and was instantly rewarded with 50 coins. The interface with Receipt Hog is nice and user friendly. What I really liked was that you can just start immediately earning your coins. It was simple to upload my receipts. I just used my camera ensuring to capture the name of the store, the date and the amount.
You can’t upload receipts older than 14 days. If your photos are a blurry mess then Receipt Hog rejects them. You have to add additional information such as a shopping experience rating and who you were with. When you have enough points you can get cash via PayPal, MasterCard vouchers or Amazon vouchers. It takes 7 days to get your reward.
3. CheckPoints
CheckPoints is a good FeaturePoints alternative and you can use it on your iOS or Android mobile device to earn rewards for performing specific tasks. I found that there are four main ways to earn through CheckPoints. These are “check ins”, “watching videos”, “offers” and “referrals”.
I could go to a store in my area that supports CheckPoints and earn points. There is a list of stores in the app and when I went to a store I had to scan a single item to earn. I found that there were around 50 videos I could watch to earn in the app. The offers section included surveys, sweepstake entries and web and app signups. Refer a friend to earn too.
Once my points tally was sufficient I could redeem gift cards from Target, Amazon, GameStop and others. You need around 340 points to get a $1 Amazon or Walmart gift card. Alternatively you can use your points to enter sweepstakes. Prizes include thousands of CheckPoints points.
4. Google Opinion Rewards
Google Opinion Rewards is a good FeaturePoints alternative. Once you download the free app for either your iOS or Android device you can take surveys to earn rewards. Once I installed Google Opinion Rewards I found a number of surveys that I could participate in. You have to qualify for every survey by answering a number of questions.
I found that the different surveys paid anywhere from a few cents to about $1. When you have amassed enough points you can redeem cash through PayPal or use them to earn credits in the Google Play Store. The second option is good if you have an Android device but no use for iOS users.
You can use Google Opinion Rewards if you are located in the US, the UK and some countries in Asia and Europe. One of the downsides with this app is that it can be difficult to qualify for any of the available surveys. It doesn’t pay very much either which may put a lot of people off.
5. VeryDice
VeryDice is interesting and a good FeaturePoints alternative. With the Verydice app you can roll dice on your Android or iOS mobile device and if you win points then you can redeem for cash. As soon as I signed up for the app I earned 50 free dice rolls. Every time that I rolled the dice I got tickets that were redeemable for cash prizes.
One of the options with VeryDice was that I could use 3 rolls of the dice each time which provided me with the opportunity to earn 3 times as much. There are games available in the app to earn bonuses and there are more ways to earn tickets too. If you need more rolls then you need to wait a day and then open the app and spin to see how many rolls you get.
You have to be in the US to use VeryDice and you will require around 2,000 tickets to cash out for a prize. With this amount you qualify for a prize of around $3. I found it pretty addictive playing VeryDice and if you run out of rolls you can pay for them. Earn tickets through surveys, referring others and watching videos as well.
6. Mileup
Mileup is another interesting FeaturePoints alternative. I downloaded it to my smartphone and then used it when I was driving. Mileup will actually tell you how well you are driving and how you compare to other drivers. All I had to do was enter my starting location and then by sharing my driving data with Mileup I earned rewards.
The aim of Mileup is to assist people with their driving skills. It will look at the distance you travelled and whether you accelerated and braked safely and your average speed. You can only use Mileup in the US and it won’t distract you while driving if you thought that. I was able to earn points for every mile that I drove using Mileup.
When you have enough points you can enter sweepstakes. I got 25 points just for signing up and if you see an accident and report it then you get a huge 50,000 points. There are more points available for referring others and taking part in challenges. Sweepstakes winners earn cash prizes every month.
7. Perk TV
Perk TV is another viable FeaturePoints alternative. With Perk TV you can earn points by watching videos. Perk TV is a very popular app and I downloaded it for my Android device and created a free account. When you have accumulated the right amount of points you can redeem them for gift cards.
When I first used Perk TV I liked the simplicity of the user interface. I was able to browse categories and channels such as comedy, TV, educational, lifestyle, games, movies, sports and more. All I did then was tap on the video I wanted to watch and as I viewed each video I earned points.
You can use Perk TV in a number of different countries but you get the highest points in the US. You have the chance of earning tokens too by rating videos either “thumbs up” or “thumbs down”. With points you can get gift cards and with tokens you can enter sweepstakes that have good prizes.
8. AppBounty
My last FeaturePoints alternative is AppBounty. When you use AppBounty you will have the opportunity to download other apps and test them to earn rewards. I just went to the “Offers” tab and started looking for apps that were of interest. After downloading and installing these apps and opening them I earned credits.
I earned around 100 credits every time I downloaded and used a new app. If I referred a friend then I could get a further 250 credits. For a $5 Amazon gift card I needed to amass around 2,500 credits which I was able to do. I used the app in the US but you can use it in around 15 other countries too.
Unfortunately there is no cash payout with AppBounty. You have the choice of an Amazon gift card, an iTunes gift card, PS network points or Xbox live points. It’s very easy to use the AppBounty app and if you go for a lot of downloads and installs it won’t take you long to earn the credits you need for gift card redemption.
My Final Words on FeaturePoints Alternatives
You're not going to get rich with FeaturePoints or any of the FeaturePoint alternatives in this review. You need to treat these apps as a fun way to earn cash or rewards on an occasional basis. Don’t take them too seriously.
If you want to earn cash then go for AppTrailers or the Google Opinion Rewards app. You won’t earn that much though. VeryDice is very entertaining but it can be addictive and you can end up spending money buying more dice rolls. Receipt Hog is OK but you need a lot of receipts to earn cash so prepare to spend a lot!
